1. How to delete your account in the app
Deleting your account takes a few taps, with no need to contact us first:
- Open the MotorTax app on your phone.
- Go to the “More” tab (bottom right).
- Tap “My account”.
- Tap “Delete my account” (in red, at the bottom).
- Confirm the deletion in the confirmation window.
Deletion is carried out immediately on confirmation. Your account and your data are erased from our servers at the same moment.
2. Data deleted
The following are permanently deleted at the moment of confirmation:
- Email address and account identifier.
- My Garage — all saved vehicles (make, model, engine, year, cantons).
- My analyses — the history of all the comparisons you saved.
- Account preferences (language, theme, synced settings).
3. Data kept
No personal data is kept after your account is deleted. You leave our systems entirely.
Note: for technical reasons, encrypted backups may still contain anonymised fragments during the backup rotation period (up to 30 days), after which they are permanently destroyed. These backups are not accessible for any use and remain encrypted.
4. No longer have access to the app?
If you uninstalled the app or can no longer access it, you can request the deletion of your account by email:
- Write to contact@motortax.ch from the email address linked to your MotorTax account.
- Simply say “I request the deletion of my account”.
- We process the request within 30 days at most (usually within 7 days).
5. Deletion confirmation
After deleting from the app, you are signed out automatically and taken back to the welcome screen. You can keep using MotorTax as a guest, or create a new account later if you wish — it will be completely empty.
